Chelsea fans have criticised goalkeeper Asmir Begovic on Twitter after he conceded a goal from West Ham’s Mauro Zarate at his near post.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international, who joined the Blues in an £8 million deal from Stoke City in the summer, has been deputising in the absence of the injured Thibaut Courtois.

And while the 28-year-old has performed reasonably well in recent weeks, some Chelsea supporters have pinned the blame on the keeper for allowing West Ham to go 1-0 ahead at Upton Park this afternoon.

The ball fell to Zarate on the edge of the box, and the Argentine playmaker steadied himself before rifling his shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Begovic will be the first to admit that he should have done better with the shot, but where was the marking on the edge of the box from his Chelsea teammates?

Here’s how the Chelsea supporters reacted to Begovic’s attempted save…

Pressure increases on Jose Mourinho

Chelsea will stay inside the bottom half of the table if they lose this afternoon, while the pressure will be increased on the shoulders of the under-fire Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese coach insists he will not walk away from his job but if results and performances fail to improve, even the fans may soon begin to turn.
