In order to make Liverpool ‘his’ team, Jurgen Klopp will need to bring in his own players and get rid of the deadwood - starting when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Louis van Gaal was faced with a similar rebuilding job with rivals Manchester United when he arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2014; Liverpool fans must give their new manager time and acknowledge that an overnight fix simply isn’t possible.
Liverpool undoubtedly have the right man in charge and although he’s not exactly renowned for his ruthless streak, the German coach will move on players he deems surplus to requirements at Anfield.

We’ve drawn up a list of three Liverpool players who Klopp should sell in the January transfer window, along with the reasons why.

Until recently - when he deleted his Twitter and Instagram accounts following abuse from fans - Jose Enrique appeared to be spending more time on social media than training to win back his place in Liverpool’s starting XI.
The Spanish full-back, who turns 30 in January, used to be a half-decent player but seems to have lost his appetite for the game.
Even with Joe Gomez out for the season, Enrique should be sold and a replacement signed.
In the meantime, Liverpool fans will be hoping Alberto Moreno keeps himself injury-free.
More than three years after signing for Liverpool for £15 million, it’s fair to say that the step up from Swansea City was a little too big for Joe Allen.
The 25-year-old might be known as the ‘Welsh Xaxi’ but, quite frankly, that’s an insult to the former Barcelona and Spain superstar.
He’s a decent Premier League central midfielder - nothing more, nothing less - but not good enough for the Reds.
The best thing about Kolo Toure these days is his chant - the Ivory Coast international’s best days are well behind him.
At 34 years old, though, that should come as little surprise to Klopp, who is best off selling the centre-back and sticking with Dejan Lovren as a back-up option for the likes of Martin Skrtel and the excellent Mamadou Sakho.
Liverpool are looking to the future and the ageing Toure shouldn’t be a part of it.
