Sheamus says he is not scared of Conor McGregor

Previously it was something a lot less common, but, nowadays, it seems the current WWE roster has many links to UFC and its fighters.

Whether it be that a fighter has become a wrestler as with Brock Lesnar, or vice versa as with CM Punk, there has been several connections made between these two very different sporting disciplines.

Irish connection

One more unusual WWE superstar who has a link to UFC is none other than the current Money In The Bank briefcase holder, Sheamus.

The Irishman is often quoted as calling out his fellow countryman and the face of UFC, Conor McGregor.

Recently, TMZ carried out an interview with Sheamus and he showed no hesitation when stating he is more than ready to take a challenge from Conor McGregor.

As reported on 411mania.com, Sheamus said:

"I can kick anybody's a**...[the Irish are] good Guinness drinkers and good a** kickers...I'm not scared of anybody fella."

Social exchange

Perhaps some strong words for McGregor to take note of, with the pair also often having heated exchanges via Twitter.

Although the two big-name stars' outbursts on social media seemed to start off as humorous, Sheamus said in a recent interview, as reported by Sci Fighting, that he felt he had let McGregor off enough times before he fought back:

"He was having a go at WWE in these interviews he was doing. The first couple of times I let it go but then I decided to have a bit of craic and banter with him."

He added:

"Would I take Conor McGregor? No, he’s a lot shorter than me. I don’t think we’d be allowed fight—a heavyweight and a lightweight.

"Would I take him [if I had to]? Absolutely. Course I would. No one could take me. No one’s better than me. I could walk over anyone."

Remaining in his heel and dark character even outside the ring, the Irishman clearly feels that, should he and McGregor ever come across each other professionally, it would be no bother to the WWE star.

Day job

At present, the WWE Universe is awaiting Sheamus' cash-in of his Money In The Bank briefcase for a shot at the WWE World Heavweight Championship Title.

Aside from this, he teamed up with Rusev and Barrett only to be defeated by Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler and Neville at WWE's Hell In A Cell pay-per-view event this past Sunday night.
