Here’s hoping that the World Cup final will not become bogged down as a nerve-riddled affair, which was the case in New Zealand four years ago and in France 2007. Stakes are enormous, but the All Blacks and Australia are two great teams who deserve to thrive on rugby union’s biggest stage.

Huge day in the build-up to Saturday’s final as New Zealand head coach Steve Hansen and his Australia counterpart Michael Cheika announce their teams. Hansen will be first out of the traps around midday in Bagshot, with Cheika following at Teddington a few hours later.
