Brendan Rodgers is reportedly a candidate to replace Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

This has been sensationally reported by the Belfast Telegraph, who claim that Blues owner Roman Abramovich is running out of patience with Portuguese tactician Mourinho.

With the Blues currently sitting in 15th place in the Premier League, Mourinho has endured a torrid opening to the season at Stamford Bridge.

The self-proclaimed 'Special One' is under increasing pressure in west London, with numerous reports claiming that he could lose his job if the Blues are beaten on home soil to Liverpool on Saturday.

In fact, the same report from the Belfast Telegraph goes on to claim that Abramovich could hire an interim manager, meaning Rodgers could be in line to become the club's temporary boss.

Rodgers lost his job at Liverpool a few weeks ago, but it's far from certain as to whether he'd be interested in replacing Mourinho at Stamford Bridge. The Northern Irishman previously worked for the Blues, but it would come as a major surprise if he completed a return to the club.

Unsurprisingly, there has been quite the reaction on social media...

Let's not get ahead of ourselves; we're well aware that Rodgers replacing Mourinho would come as a major shock, but stranger things have happened.

With the same report claiming that the Blues' No1 target Diego Simeone won't be available until the summer, perhaps a move for Rodgers actually would be feasible. Just imagine if Rodgers took over at the Bridge and kept Liverpool out of the top four this season...
