Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang warns Liverpool players not to make Jurgen Klopp angry

Borussia Dortmund’s in-form striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has warned Liverpool’s players not to make Jurgen Klopp angry - they won’t like him when he’s angry.

The 26-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, has tipped Klopp to “work his genius” with the Merseyside outfit - according to BBC World Service sports reporter John Bennett - but hinted that the jovial German coach is capable of losing his temper.

“It's a club with a lot of history,” Aubameyang was quoted as saying about Liverpool. “Klopp will work his genius there. My advice for the players? Don't make him angry."

The Gabon international was signed by Klopp, from Saint-Etienne for an undisclosed fee, in the summer of 2013 as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

His first season at Signal Iduna Park wasn’t anything to shout home about, but the 26-year-old was a key player in his second - and final - season working under Klopp, scoring 26 goals in 46 appearances.

Aubameyang has raised his game this season

This season under the management of Thomas Tuchel, however, Aubameyang has already scored 20 goals in just 17 matches - 13 of which have come in the Bundesliga, putting him joint-top of the goalscoring charts in Germany, alongside the aforementioned Lewandowski.

Liverpool fans are hoping that Klopp can sign one of his star former players - like Aubameyang, Lewandowski or Marco Reus - when the transfer window re-opens in January.

But in order to attract players of this calibre, it’s essential that Liverpool qualify for the Champions League - or are at least on course to qualify for Europe’s premier club competition.

It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Liverpool will secure a top-four finish this season, although Aubameyang is still unlikely to end up at Anfield in 2016 even if they do.

The striker has made it clear - per BBC Sport - that La Liga, rather than the Premier League, is his preferred next destination.
