New York Jets made bizarre locker room request before Patriots game

Football News

The New England Patriots have, in recent times, developed a reputation as a team that doesn't have a problem bending, or even breaking, the rules to gain an advantage.

What with 2007's spygate and the deflategate controversy that has engulfed the NFL over the last 10 months, the AFC East franchise are, rightly or wrongly, viewed with suspicion by their opponents.

And it looks like the New York Jets weren't taking any chances when they travelled to play the Patriots in week seven - radio host Craig Carton revealing the strange demand made by the Jets in order to ensure fair play.

The fact the story is only coming to light now, almost one week after the game, it doesn't look like anything underhand was going on. But, the very fact the Jets made such a request shows that the Patriots are yet to shake off the tag of 'cheaters.'

As you might expect, though, fans of the reigning Super Bowl champions have not taken kindly to the Jets' lack of trust:

Considering the Patriots' past misdemeanours when playing against the Jets, it is perhaps no surprise to see their AFC East rivals taking such drastic steps in the run-up to a game.

Too good

But, unfortunately for the Jets and the rest of the NFL, it looks like New England's impressive start to the 2015 season is all above board.

With Tom Brady leading the charge, the franchise is 7-0 after last night's win over the Dolphins. In fact, it seems like the only way to stop them would be if other teams managed to get a bug in Bill Belichick's locker room.
