Liverpool midfielder Lucas has won the most tackles in the Premier League so far this season.

The Brazilian ace, 28, has played a significant role on Merseyside recently and now appears to be an important player under the guidance of boss Jurgen Klopp.

In fact, according to EA SPORTS' Player Performance Index, Lucas is the only man in England's elite division to have won over 50 tackles throughout the course of the campaign so far.

Despite coming close to a red card against Chelsea this past weekend, Lucas has won 83.08% of his tackles.

Incredibly, Lucas leads the way in the top 10 tacklers in the division despite having played less games than his counterparts.

Departure was close

It's safe to say, then, that Liverpool fans will be quite pleased that former manager Brendan Rodgers didn't move Lucas on in the summer transfer window.

Before Liverpool battled Arsenal at the Emirates stadium back in August, the midfielder looked likely to leave the club behind on a permanent basis.

However, after a strong outing in north London, the dynamic ace has gone from strength-to-strength in recent weeks. Reds fans will be hoping that he continues to shine in the middle of the park for the foreseeable future.

Liverpool fans: are you pleased that Lucas stayed at your club? Have your say below!
