Football News

Chelsea supporters, a very warm welcome.

It’s our genuine hope that you’re holed up somewhere nice and cosy, with nothing to do but catch up on the latest football news concerning your club.

We understand that isn’t really pragmatic for most of you, but in any event we’re going to give you the news anyway. Read on below for more.

Lampard on the best he faced

Over 600 games for Chelsea, more goals than any midfielder has a right to score and silverware in abundance.

It’s safe to say Frank Lampard’s Blues career was a categorical success, and it’s even safer to assume that he played with countless incredible players during his stint in England.

Well, the New York City star has spoken, and he believes that Lionel Messi is the best he ever came across.

When posed the all-important question on Monday Night Football, he answered: "Messi.

"Messi, for his individual ability.

“We played him when he was at the top and you can’t get near him when he’s at his best.

"Special player. For me, he’s the best of all time. Certainly the best I’ve played against.”

For those who might be wondering, yes, he did also play against Cristiano Ronaldo… on top of a host of others who can claim to be genuine world beaters.

Secret Footballer's Fabregas claim

Elsewhere, that mysterious serial speculator known as the Secret Footballer has claimed that Spanish midfielder Francesc Fabregas is leading a mini-revolt at Chelsea, as he isn’t happy with the way Jose Mourinho is doing things.

As is to be expected, Fabregas has hit out at the suggestions on Twitter fairly quickly. Does he mean to say that the ‘Secret Footballer’ isn’t telling the gospel truth?

Mourinho's one-match ban

And to finish, Mourinho has been handed a one-match stadium ban for his actions during Chelsea’s loss to West Ham earlier on this season.

The Blues boss was sent to the stands by referee Jon Moss and has since admitted a Football Association charge of misconduct. He’s also been fined £40,000 for the perceived misdemeanour.
