Anthony Martial bemoans poor Manchester United form on Instagram

Manchester United star Anthony Martial has taken to Instagram give a very honest critique of his current form.

The Red Devils star failed to make an impact against a stubborn CSKA Moscow side in Tuesday's Champions League clash before being substituted for Marouane Fellaini in the 66th minute.

He left the field with the scoreline 0-0 and until Wayne Rooney scored the winning goal in the 79th minute, a fourth consecutive stalemate looked inevitable.

As one of the attacking stars that failed to fire against the Russian outfit, Martial was quick to give himself a poor rating for his unconvincing display at Old Trafford.

Accompanied by a picture that personify his ongoing struggles, the 19-year-old wrote: "Bad match for me tonight but good win 💪🏽 #Workhard."

The post has got 48,000 likes in just seven hours and a string of comments encouraging the £36million summer signing to not be so hard on himself.

Some fan reaction

A person called 'dm0991' said: "You weren't that bad mate just a few offsides you always come back harder."

maariyah99 said: "You weren't the worst player on the pitch. Van Gaal shouldn't have taken you off."

luke.maxted said: "You didn't play bad, you played fantastic, the only reason the fans booed you off is because we wanted you to stay on."

Old Trafford booing

It was clear the Old Trafford crowd were not happy with the decision to take Martial off. The boos could be heard loud and clear when the striker's number went up with 24 minutes to go. The fact that he was replaced by the dark force of Fellaini only made the decision less popular.

Just take a look at some of this reaction on Twitter:

Van Gaal justified

With Manchester United eventually sealing all three points, Louis van Gaal was quick to justify his decision.

He told reporters: “That is the opinion of the fans, but afterwards, they shall not be disappointed of the decision of the manager.

“Wayne shall always contribute in a game. I’m very happy because I put him again in the striker position and he scored.

“I am very happy about the result and that we are top of the group."
