Football News

Chelsea fans, hello and good day.

Allow us to present you with a midweek round-up packed full of tantalising rumours and the very latest in the way of breaking news.

Read on below if you’re interested in getting the low-down or alternatively watch the video above to be quite literally spoon-fed it by yours truly. Enjoy.

Monaco's offer

Money can go an awfully long way in football, but it can’t convince Chelsea to part ways with under-fire boss Jose Mourinho, apparently.

Allow us to clarify - it’s said this morning that French giants AS Monaco made a shock offer for Mourinho to the tune of £35million, with the club’s owner having met with Roman Abramovich to discuss the idea.

It’s said Monaco were willing to buy Mourinho out of his contract, but Abramovich remained loyal. Mourinho obviously has more support than most fans are giving him credit for.

Ancelotti on Mourinho

Coincidentally, our second story of the day looks at the man most likely to replace Mourinho if he does leave Stamford Bridge.

That’s right, it’s Carlo Ancelotti. The former Real Madrid boss has backed his managerial counterpart to restore order at Chelsea, dismissing the idea of a return to the post for himself.

He said: ‘I had a good time at Chelsea, but the team has the best manager to solve its problems’. Well, make of that what you will.

Zola admission

Lastly, it’s more managerial talk as Blues legend Gianfranco Zola has admitted he dreams of a return to Stamford Bridge as head coach.

The diminutive Italian, fabled around west London for his incredible career as a Chelsea forward, said his goal was to become the manager at the club.

We’ll assume he’s got a long way to go before he’s considered for that illustrious detail.
