With four points secured from their opening three Champions League group stage matches this term, Chelsea can ill-afford to lose this evening. Defeat would leave the Blues with an uphill battle to qualify for the knockout rounds.

Furthermore, it would also represent a fourth successive defeat for Mourinho, who’s already under significant pressure at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho needs a win tonight - badly

Speculation is rife that the revered Portuguese coach could lose his job before the international break depending on the outcome of the matches tonight and against Stoke City on Saturday evening.

The Chelsea faithful have had little to cheer about this season, but they will still be expecting their side to beat Dynamo Kiev comfortably.

Based on their recent form, though, tonight’s result is far from a foregone conclusion. That Dynamo Kiev held Chelsea to a 0-0 draw just a fortnight ago, meanwhile, suggests this evening’s match could be a tough game to navigate for Mourinho’s under-performing players.
