Arsenal fans blast Gabriel on Twitter during Bayern Munich clash

Arsenal fans have pinned the blame squarely on Gabriel after the Brazilian defender played Robert Lewandowski onside for Bayern Munich’s opening goal at the Allianz Arena.

Gabriel, deputising for the injured Laurent Koscielny, was caught napping as the in-form Lewandowski comfortably beat the offside trap and headed the ball past Petr Cech in the Arsenal goal.

It was the worst possible start for the Gunners, who were subsequently left with a mountain to climb, and it’s safe to say that fans on Twitter were less than impressed with Gabriel’s poor defending.

All defenders make mistakes and Arsenal fans shouldn’t be too harsh on Gabriel; however, as you can see, some supporters struggled to control their emotions in the seconds after the South American centre-back’s error.

They will assume, and perhaps rightly so, that Lewandowski’s goal would have been avoided had Koscielny started the match.

It's 2-0 now. Thomas Muller has scored...
