Piers Morgan has told his 4.6 million followers on Twitter that he will personally pay the bail money of Karim Benzema, who was arrested on Wednesday, if the Real Madrid striker agreed to sign for Arsenal in January.
The celebrity Arsenal fan, frustrated during the Gunners’ 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, tweeted: “How much is Benzema's bail? I'm prepared to pay it and spring him tonight if he signs for us in January. #afc”
Benzema spent the night in a police cell after being questioned as part of an investigation into a blackmail case over a sex tape involving fellow France international Mathieu Valbuena, according to BBC News.

Arsenal were linked with Benzema throughout the summer, but the world-class striker ended up staying at the Bernabeu after being offered assurances by Rafael Benitez and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who has always remained fiercely loyal to the former Lyon star.
Benzema has repaid his manager and president for their faith by scoring seven goals in eight appearances for Los Blancos this season.
However, Morgan would still love to see the 27-year-old leading the line at the Emirates Stadium in 2016 and is prepared to dip into his own pocket to make it happen.
Walcott and Giroud are playing well
After the manner in which Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud have started the season, though, some believe Arsene Wenger was right not to sign another striker in the summer.
Both forwards have scored goals this season - Giroud scored a cracking consolation in the defeat in Munich on Wednesday night - and Wenger’s rotation policy seems to be working rather well at the moment.
But Morgan won’t be the only Arsenal supporter who believes Benzema would be a huge upgrade on both strikers.
