Willian message for fans

It’s difficult to say with certainty that one man is responsible for saving Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea career, but it’s hard to throw out the notion that Willian doesn’t now fit that bill.

The Brazilian scored a stunning free-kick to give the Blues a much-needed win over Dynamo Kiev, and he took to Twitter immediately after the game to thank God.

Whether or not the man upstairs had anything to do with him finding the top corner in the 82nd minute last night is open to interpretation.

One thing’s for sure, Mourinho has been given a slight reprieve because of it.

Meanwhile, Mourinho himself dedicated the victory to young Blues fans who are being bullied at school because of their club’s poor start to the season.

The Special One said it was good to see people celebrating with a buzz, and admitted it would be far easier for children to go into school having seen their team win the night before.

Transfer requests refused by Abramovich

Last but not least, a sensational piece of gossip has inferred that Mourinho asked Chelsea to sign Raheem Sterling, Gareth Bale and John Stones, but his pleas were ignored by Roman Abramovich.

The report originates in The Sun - please bear that in mind - and states that Mourinho’s requests were seen as excessive and unnecessary this summer.

Perhaps arrogance had set in amongst the Stamford Bridge hierarchy. If so, it's proven costly.
