Seth Rollins injury could lead to John Cena or Lesnar returning early

How do you solve a problem like Seth Rollins?

That is the question Vince McMahon and the WWE creative team are desperately trying to solve after the former Shield member was, yesterday, ruled out for up to nine months with a torn ACL, MCL and medial meniscus.

And, according to one report at least, the injury could force the WWE to call in a favor from two of the biggest names in the company.

Dave Meltzer, speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, suggested that the WWE could be looking into bringing either Brock Lesnar or John Cena back from their time off sooner than originally scheduled.

Cena is supposed to be the middle of a two-month sabbatical which wouldn't end until late December, whilst Lesnar's contract only accounts for a limited number of shows and wasn't expected to be back until Royal Rumble.

Bringing either of them back this month, with the WWE Heavyweight title now up for grabs, would certainly be a safe direction for the creative team to go in as they brace themselves for the drop off in interest Rollins' absence will likely bring.

Easy way out

However, there is a large majority of the WWE Universe who would rather see the company put their faith in one of the rising stars of the roster rather than, once again, rely on two veterans of the business.

Cen has earned his time off and his return would only see the WWE tred the same old path they have for years.

As for Lesnar, he is coming off a high-profile feud and putting him back in the limelight so early would smack of desperation.
