And it appears that Borthwick-Jackson could be in line for a place in the squad after photographer Matt McNulty pictured him arriving at Old Trafford with the likes of Ander Herrera, Anthony Martial and Co. last night.

Borthwick-Jackson, 18, is a versatile, classy defender who has represented England at schoolboy level. A natural left-back, the youngster could provide Argentine international Marcos Rojo with competition at the Theatre of Dreams.

Rojo the man

However, Rojo is United's main man at left-back right now. Following the long-term injury to England international Luke Shaw, the dynamic Rojo has come to prominence recently, playing a key role in the Red Devils' recent success at the back.

Rojo is a tough competitor and is quickly becoming a reliable asset for United chief Van Gaal. He's also useful when on the attack; his cross for Ander Herrera during the club's 3-0 victory against Everton last month was brilliant.
