Chelsea eye move for Javier Hernandez

Chelsea are eyeing up a surprise move for former Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez.

That is according to Tom Hopkins, who wrote in the Sunday People, via the Mirror, that the Stamford Bridge club could look to the ex-Red Devils forward, who was sold by Louis van Gaal in the summer, as a solution to their striking issues.

Diego Costa has failed to recapture his form of last season and has scored just two goals in ten league games. AS Monaco loanee Radamel Falcao has also fallen short of expectation since joining the Blues on a temporary basis.

Having departed Old Trafford for Bayer Leverkusen in a £7.3 million deal during the previous transfer window, Chicharito has been in fine form for the Bundesliga club.

'Little Pea' has scored 12 goals in the 19 appearances for club and country. He has also found the back of the net eight times in his six previous games for Leverkusen.

According to the Mirror, the 27-year-old would command a fee in the region of £8.5 million if the German club wanted to sell.

Jose Mourinho's side fell to their seventh league defeat of the season on Saturday evening.

Marko Arnautovic's goal condemned the Blues to defeat and leaves Chelsea in the midst of a crisis.

The west London club are now 14 points behind fourth-place Manchester United and look devoid of any confidence.

Worryingly for the Blues, last season's top goalscorer, Costa, has not managed to find the net in six games.

The Red Devils, themselves, have been lacking goals. Hernandez has scored more times in the league than any of United's players. However, their airtight defence has kept them in the mix at the top of the table.
