Feyenoord ace Dirk Kuyt has played down reports that he could complete a shock move to Barcelona.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Kuyt, who enjoyed a successful spell on Merseyside, has insisted that he has started 'something beautiful' at Feyenoord and isn't prepared to walk away from the club.

The Dutchman has been in sensational form so far this season and even managed to score two hat-tricks in the space of a week last month.

Kuyt, of course, is recognised as a cult-hero by the Liverpool faithful, but it appears that their former winger won't be joining up with Luis Suarez in La Liga.

Speaking to Dutch TV station RTL, the 35-year-old stated: “Should the Feyenoord fans be concerned because I might go to Barca? No.

“I’ve started something beautiful (at Feyenoord) and I want to finish it.”

Remarkable Kuyt

Let's be honest, Liverpool could probably still do with the services of the veteran right now. The versatile forward may well be entering the final stages of his career, but he's in the form of his life.

At 35, the Dutchman is showing no signs of slowing down, but surely a move to Barcelona is out of the question.

The Liverpool faithful, though, will be hoping to see their current crop of attacking stars come to prominence sooner rather than later.

The trio of Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho all have great ability but must produce the goods on a consistent basis for the club.
