WWE make late change to Survivor Series - involves big title match

Seth Rollins' injury has thrown up all sorts of problems for the WWE, and its ramifications continue to be felt as we approach Survivor Series.

We know already that Rollins' successor as Heavyweight Champion will be crowned at the November 22 event via a title tournament.

However, it now looks like that title tournament has meant the WWE has had to can plans for another title match that was generating excitement within the WWE Universe.

As reported by NoDq.com, the planned Kevin Owens vs Dean Ambrose match for the Intercontinental Championship is now very unlikely to take place.

With both Superstars set to be involved in the Heavyweight title tournament, it appears that the WWE either don't have time to have the IC title bout on the match card, or it would simply be too much for the two wrestlers to pull double duty.

It is a shame that the WWE has been forced to cancel what was an enticing match, especially as the fued has been building in recent weeks.

Waiting game

Owens has been growing his reputation as a top heel and defending his title against Ambrose would have only boosted that status. WWE fans, meanwhile, have been desperate for Ambrose to get his hands on a title and saw Survivor Series as a good shot for the ex-Shield member.

Fans could still see Owens vs Ambrose at Survivor Series, however, should the pair progress to the semi-final stage of the title tournament.

Still, with neither Superstar likely to go all the way to the top prize, it looks like Ambrose is going to have to wait to get any sort of title belt in his hands.
