Chelsea considering January move for ex-Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez

Former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has emerged as a potential target for Chelsea this January, according to ESPN.

The Blues' strikers have struggled in front of goal this season and have thus prompted the west Londoners to look for other options in attack during the winter transfer window.

Just 11 points in their first 12 matches in the Premier League represents an awful start for Jose Mourinho's side, having scored just 16 goals, three of which coming from forwards Diego Costa, Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy.

On the contrary, 'Chicharito' has been the focal point of new side Bayer Leverkusen, having scored 10 goals in 14 appearances for the Bundesliga side.

And his goalscoring exploits have not gone unnoticed, with the Premier League champions seemingly interested in signing the Mexico international.

Chelsea will be aware he's no stranger to the Premier League too, having resided with rivals Manchester United for five years and scoring 59 goals in the process.

The Mexican left the Red Devils this summer after falling out of favour with Louis Van Gaal, whose discontent was confirmed when Hernandez missed a penalty against Club Brugge earlier this season.

Hernandez's eye for goal and pace could prove a real asset for the Stamford Bridge amidst Costa's lack of form, Falcao's inability to hold any impact and Remy's limited involvement.

However, signing a new forward simply isn't enough. Chelsea's problems lie throughout their faltering side, and changes must be made from back to front if they're to have any hope of recovering their season.
