Cristiano Ronaldo blasts Rafael Benitez to Florentino Perez

Cristiano Ronaldo has made a damning six-word comment about Real Madrid head coach Rafael Benitez, telling club president Florentino Perez: 'We will win nothing with Rafa.'

This is according to Spanish newspaper El Confidencial - and brought to our attention by the Mirror - who understand Ronaldo made the comment following the 3-2 loss to Sevilla before the international break.

That defeat was Benitez’s first in La Liga since he replaced Carlo Ancelotti in the summer - but the Spanish coach, it seems, has failed to convince his star man.

Ronaldo, for one, has failed to produce his best form under Benitez. The three-time Ballon d’Or winner has scored eight goals in 11 league appearances this term, but five of them were scored in one match against Espanyol.

Surprisingly, Ronaldo has failed to hit the back of the net in seven of his 11 appearances in La Liga this term, while his overall influence during matches has significantly waned since Ancelotti left the Bernabeu.

Ronaldo may have lost motivation this season

Perhaps it’s a question of tactics - Ronaldo is probably afforded slightly less freedom by the former Liverpool manager - but it could also be a question of motivation on the forward’s part.

Ronaldo has now won everything with Real Madrid and cemented his status as the club’s all-time top scorer.

Having admitted himself that Barcelona star Lionel Messi is almost certain to win the Ballon d’Or in January, it’s possible that Ronaldo may have taken his foot off the gas in recent weeks.

In order to avoid ending the season without a trophy - and to avoid being sacked after just one season at the Bernabeu - it’s imperative that Benitez gets Ronaldo, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks, back on side and quickly.
