Petr Cech admits he wants to play without protective headgear

Published 2 Comments

The sight of Petr Cech wearing protective headgear has become the norm since the Arsenal goalkeeper suffered a fractured skull in 2006, but the 33-year-old has now revealed he wants to play without it. The former Chelsea stopper admitted he would feel more confident if he wasn’t forced to keep the headgear on, though doctors have forbidden him from taking to the field without it. Now we haven’t got any neurological expertise per say, but we’ll probably side with the doctors on that one. Elsewhere, Mesut Ozil is to be rewarded for his fine recent form with a brand new contract, according to reports coming from over the weekend. Word is that Arsene Wenger is looking to tie down the assist king for his peak years - no doubt that’s a story that will develop more over the coming weeks.
