New Orleans Saints fans react with anger as Rob Ryan remains employed

Football News

When you're in charge of the worst defense in the entire NFL, one who's secondary is on pace to be record-breakingly awful, your job is always going to be on the line.

And it appeared that Rob Ryan had found that out to his cost this morning after reports, namely from Fox Sports, claimed the New Orleans Saints had fired him as their defensive coordinator.

The news brought a collective sigh of relief from much of the Who Dat Nation. That relief turned to anger and confusion this afternoon, however, with Saints head coach Sean Payton refuting the report.

Having expected Payton and the Saints to come out with an announcement addressing Ryan's departure, it is safe to say Saints fans had a 'mixed' reaction to news that there had been no DC change as of Monday morning.

Here are some of the (suitable for work) responses from fans of the NOLA franchise...

Even though the Saints are yet to make any staff changes, Rob Ryan might want to get too comfortable. He might still be in a job at this point, but it certainly looks like changes are coming at the Saints.

Considering the Saints' calamitous 2015 defense, it is somewhat surprising that Ryan has even made it to week 10.

Only once have the franchise restricted their opposition to fewer than 20 points, and they have just allowed a combined 81 points to Kirk Cousins and rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Despite what Payton has said this morning, with a bye week ahead, the odds on Rob Ryan still being employed by the Saints come week 12 are shortening by the hour.
