Football News

Liverpool fans, good day to you all.

Nothing much usually stirs on the club scene during the international break, but in that respect this one has been far from normal.

We’ve got all the latest on your club below - you can trust us when we say there are some juicy bits and bobs in there to keep you satisfied. Enjoy.

Lingard admission

Jesse Lingard is a name not too widely lauded outside of Manchester, but the youngster has revealed he could have easily been playing for Liverpool.

The winger told in an exclusive interview with his club - relayed by the Manchester Evening News - that he had a choice as a child between Old Trafford and Anfield, but that his heart was set on the former.

"I was at a local club Penketh United and Mike Glennie, a Manchester United scout, came to watch me," said Lingard.

"He spoke to my grandad and offered me trials but there was also interest from Liverpool and I had to pick. I was only young but obviously my heart was with United at the time."

It might not be seen as too much of a blow by Reds fans since Lingard isn’t yet the finished product, but all the same United are likely thankful they got their man.

Here's a reminder of what he's capable of:

Carragher on Klopp's plans

Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher has tipped Jurgen Klopp to make big changes next summer as he seeks to turn Liverpool into a title-winning team.

Carragher said he thought January wasn’t the right time for a major upheaval, but that mid-2016 was a different matter.

What do fans think Klopp should do when the next transfer window opens? Let us know in the comments box below.

Balotelli injury

Over to loan-centric news, and Mario Balotelli is facing a three-month injury layoff in Italy after falling victim to a hernia that is going to require surgery.

The forward, who of course struggled so famously at Liverpool last season, could well be looking to secure a permanent transfer to AC Milan at the end of the campaign.

If he is then the latest setback won’t have done his chances any favours.
