Chelsea linked with £20m swoop for Saido Berahino

Chelsea fans haven't had much to cheer about this season. They've watched their side lose seven of their 12 Premier League games so far to leave them in 16th place - closer to relegation than the title battle.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho looks to have weathered the storm and isn't in danger of losing his job, at least going into this weekend's game against Norwich, and he's expected to delve into the January transfer window when it opens.

A report earlier this week claimed that six players were on the Special One's shortlist for the winter window and now the Telegraph have another name to add to that list - and it will certainly anger Tottenham fans.

Saido Berahino was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham during the transfer window in the summer and did his best to force a move to White Hart Lane, as his tweet, which has subsequently been deleted, after the window closed, proved:

The 22-year-old has managed three goals in 10 Premier League games having reneged on his promise to never play for West Brom again, and according to the Telegraph he is the man to reinvigorate the Blues, who also have Gonzalo Higuain on their radar.

With Diego Costa struggling and Radamel Falcao basically non-existent, the paper claims that a £20 million move could be on the cards. This of course comes with the added bonus that it will likely antagonise Tottenham and their fans.

Chelsea have built themselves a niche market for themselves as Tottenham trolls having snaffled deals for the likes of Oscar, Mohamed Salah and Juan Mata away from the north London club over the years. Eden Hazard even admitted he could have joined Spurs.

The mother of all though came when Brazilian turncoat Willian was within seconds of signing for Spurs, only for the Blues to come a'calling and snaffled him from right under their noses.

It's fair to say Chelsea fans were enjoying the news regarding Berahino too.

Do you think it's a good idea for Chelsea to spend £20m on Berahino?
