"It's the best moment of my career. I can't believe it," the former England captain said with a smile.

However, it was his post on Instagram that really stood out for us. Beckham admitted that he thought he was past his sell-by date, insisting that his kids will laugh as 'they see what Daddy looks like in the morning'.

Instagram response

Beckham stated on Instagram: "I thought I was past my sell by date but thanks to @PeopleMag for the accolade and the compliment! I always feel a little shy when receiving these Awards, though it will make my Mum happy. This one the kids will laugh at, as they see what Daddy looks like in the morning! Photo by Marc Hom."

Brilliant Beckham

His career may well have come to an end, but Beckham has been well and truly back in the headlines recently. The 40-year-old was back at Old Trafford on Saturday in pursuit of raising awareness and funds for UNICEF.

Alongside the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Paul Scholes, Ronaldinho and Co., the legends of the game performed admirably as a sold-out crowd at the Theatre of Dreams watched on.
