Spanish runner Marta Dominguez has been stripped of her 2009 world steeplechase title after being found guilty of an anti-doping violation.

The 40-year-old, who has also been handed a three-year ban, was accused of doping in 2013 after blood abnormalities.

The Spanish athletics federation cleared Dominguez one year later, but that decision has been reversed on appeal by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Dominguez said her readings were caused by a medical condition, but CAS dismissed her claims.

Her results between August 5, 2009 and July 8 2013 have been disqualified. As a result, she loses the gold she won in Berlin six years ago and her 2010 European 3,000m steeplechase silver medal.
