Every player current plying his trade in the Isthmian League Division One North is dreaming of waking up one day and seeing his name on GiveMeSport.

That dream has come true for Thurrock defender Kamarl Duncan, but it has not happened the way he would have wanted. What is that saying? Be careful what you wish for.

In a mid-week fixture against Romford on Tuesday, Duncan did everything a non-league defender should be doing. He tried to launch the ball forward, getting out of the danger area by any means necessary.

But with Storm Barney in full force, the ball looped back over his head and flew towards his own net. It caught goalkeeper Rhys Madden completely off-guard. He fumbled the ball into the net and the crowd went wild. The game would go on to finish 1-1.

It has taken a few days, but the Internet of things has finally discovered this absurd goal and decided it was well worth watching. We're glad you think so too.

Thurrock's manager Mark Stimson said: "Romford's goal was something you can only describe after seeing."

Of course, this isn't the first time Mother Nature has had a say in matters on the pitch. Duncan's effort only served to remind us about this other blast from the past.
