Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that the strike-duo of Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial will miss tomorrow's Premier League clash against Watford.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Vicarage Road, the United chief has admitted that Martial won't recover in time after picking up a foot injury while on international duty with France on Tuesday.

United will also be without captain Rooney because of illness while striker James Wilson won't be fit to play the entire game.

Versatile Belgium international Marouane Fellaini is also on the sidelines, leaving Van Gaal with few options in terms of attacking players for the lunch-time kick-off.

Michael Carrick and Antonio Valencia  have been ruled out as the Red Devils aim to go temporarily top of the Premier League by securing all three points.

Lack of options

United fans will certainly be concerned ahead of the fixture. Without Rooney and Martial, the Old Trafford outfit look extremely exposed in attack.

Perhaps, then, youngster Memphis Depay will be handed a starting role; the dynamic Dutchman has endured a tricky start to life on English soil, but he certainly has the attributes and credentials to come to prominence sooner rather than later.

A scorer of 21 league goals for PSV last season, Depay knows where to aim, so perhaps he will stand up and be counted for against the Premier League new-boys.

Without a number of key men, it won't be easy for the Red Devils, but Van Gaal and Co. will still be confident that a makeshift side can deliver a positive result.

Manchester United fans: do you expect Depay to play up front tomorrow? Have your say below!
