Henry believes West Ham's Dimitri Payet has been the buy of the season and is surprised that other Premier League clubs did not compete with the Hammers for the France international's signature.
Payet, a £10.7 million signing from Marseille, has scored five goals and registered four assists in 12 Premier League appearances this season - and his eye-catching performances have not gone unnoticed by Henry.

"Payet has been the buy of the season and I’m surprised other English teams did not go in for the French playmaker when it became clear he would be leaving Marseille," Henry said in The Sun, according the Mirror. "Brave on the ball, creative and with good vision, Payet has been the conductor of Bilic’s orchestra.
"If West Ham are going to progress as a club, it is essential they keep hold of players such as Payet and Manuel Lanzini."
Payet out for three months with ankle injury
Unfortunately for West Ham, though, Payet is likely to be out of action until February after he suffered an untimely ankle injury in the 1-1 draw against Everton before the international break.
The Hammers undoubtedly missed the 28-year-old's presence as they were comprehensively beaten 4-1 by Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
However, Lanzini - a former Under-20 international who has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent days - further enhanced his burgeoning reputation by scoring a superb consolation goal.
With Payet out of action, Slaven Bilic will be looking to Lanzini to provide similar moments of inspiration.
But the sooner the Frenchman can return to action, the better it will be for West Ham.
