Simon Mignolet says Jurgen Klopp's hugs are inspiring Liverpool

Manchester City v Liverpool - Premier League

Jurgen Klopp has certainly changed the atmosphere around Anfield. The Liverpool manager brought a wave of optimism to the club upon his arrival.

And results on the pitch have been pretty impressive as well. Away wins against Chelsea and Manchester City see the Reds sit just six points off the top four.

Their performance in the 4-1 win at the Etihad showed a team that was together and believing in the same philosophies, and goalkeeper Simon Mignolet believes a lot of that has to do with one specific trait of the German manager.

The Belgian stopper believes the fact Klopp hugs his players after games has lead to an increased sense of togetherness.

“That’s what you need as a player – the confidence of the manager and the whole staff, [knowing] that they’re behind you and we’re working in the same direction.”

Speaking to the club's official website, Mignolet said: “He’s hugged with all of the players and it gives you a good feeling because it means you know he is behind you and supporting you.

PERSONALITY

Klopp's post-match hugs are not the only thing that have gained attention from fans. His slaps have also become pretty popular, and they are a unique way for the manager to show affection.

It worked during his time at Borussia Dortmund, as he took the club to back-to-back Bundesliga titles. If he can do that at Liverpool, the player definitely won't mind a couple of slaps around the chops.
