Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has hailed Luis Suarez as one of the world's best three players.

Speaking on BT Sport, the LA Galaxy midfielder has insisted that his former teammate has gone 'to another level' at Barcelona.

With 11 goals in 11 La Liga games this season, Suarez has been in outstanding form for the Catalans recently and he's certainly caught the eye of Gerrard.

"He was world class but he's gone to another level," said Gerrard on BT Sport.

"Some of the goals he's scoring… they are goals I didn't think were possible.

Top three

"He seems to be at a place he wants to be and he seems settled. He's in the top three players in the world."

Shortly after Gerrard's comments, Suarez was at it again as he hit a brace for Luis Enrique's side during their 6-1 demolition of Italian counterparts Roma.

The Uruguayan international was at his scintillating best for the Spanish giants, who will be determined to retain their Champions League crown this season. Indeed, Suarez's second goal of the evening was rather special as he volleyed home in style.

Fantastic four

It's difficult to disagree with Gerrard at this stage: Suarez has gone from strength-to-strength in the last couple of years. In truth, Neymar, Lionel Messi and Suarez are comfortably three of the standout players in world football right now.

Only Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is on the same level as the aforementioned trio. Ronaldo and Messi were once way out on their own, but Neymar and Suarez have been making up ground this season.

With Suarez, Messi and Neymar on the same side, Barcelona have a great chance of emulating last season's heroics.
