WWE: Potential feuds for Sheamus as World Champion

With Survivor Series in the books, the WWE Universe have their opinions on the fact that Sheamus is now our new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Some fans despise The Celtic Warrior even more than they previously did, but some fans understand why Sheamus being the champion could be a good thing for now.

The key thing with Sheamus as champion is that the WWE shouldn’t drop the ball on his title run, otherwise his Money in the Bank cash-in will feel useless and his title run could be a waste.

It remains doubtful that Sheamus will be a long-term champion, but he should definitely be holding on to the title heading into the New Year.

For that to happen, the WWE need to make sure they make the most out of a heel title run, here are the feuds which could help Sheamus as champion.

Roman Reigns is the obvious one and their match will take place at the TLC pay-per-view. I believe Sheamus should retain at the event here.

Reigns will be the WWE World Heavyweight Champion sooner or later, but he needs to go through a journey to get there and I feel that Sheamus as a heel would be a huge test.

Sheamus does have the ability to put on solid matches which can help Reigns, and a victory over him would be fantastic for the champion and his reign would start off with a huge impact.

Although Dean Ambrose is going to take on Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental Championship, The Lunatic Fringe could still be a future potential challenger for Sheamus’ title.

This is where the fans will be really divided because they feel Ambrose deserves the championship which means the fans will be behind him. At the same this would be fantastic news for Sheamus as he would go over as a genuine heel, not just because they find him boring.

This could be a brutal match as both men are quite rough in the ring so we shouldn’t expect a technical masterclass. Plus, with Sheamus rolling with The Authority now, it would be a good chance to tell another great story with them holding down someone the fans love.

John Cena’s name will always come into the mix and whether you love him or hate him, you have to admit the company needs him right now.

The likelihood is Cena will return to take on Alberto Del Rio for the United States Championship, but when he returns he should target Sheamus and The Authority.

We need his experience in the title picture and he’s a solid first defence for Sheamus because the two have history together. Defeating Cena in any title defence is a huge accomplishment and it would be a huge step in the right direction for Sheamus.

Much like Cena, Brock Lesnar is a name that will always be thrown around in the title picture and right now they don’t come bigger than The Beast Incarnate.

Lesnar would actually be on a different level than anyone else for Sheamus as it is very rare somebody is able to defeat Lesnar. If Lesnar returned at a face and targeted the champion then that could make for an interesting match for whenever it took place.

The Authority would do whatever it takes to help keep the strap on Sheamus, but a victory by any means over Lesnar would be a huge milestone in his title defence.
