Manchester United legend Gary Neville has insisted that the club have made the right decision by sending youngster James Wilson out on loan.

Taking to Twitter this morning, the Sky Sports pundit has questioned why fans are 'shocked' by the decision after the talented youngster completed a season-long loan move to Brighton last night.

Neville has highlighted that the fact that Wilson has struggled for game-time under the guidance of Louis van Gaal this season as a reason why he will benefit from a temporary spell away from the club.

Wilson has managed just eight minutes of Premier League football this season after coming on as a substitute during the Red Devils' 3-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal.

But United fans weren't exactly overjoyed by the club's decision to move him on as they've watched their side struggle to score goals recently. In fact, the Old Trafford outfit have failed to score in four of their last seven games in all competitions.

Neville, though, is clearly not surprised by the latest decision from the Manchester United hierarchy.

Neville is right

Neville has certainly put things into perspective with his comments on Manchester United's dynamic forward. At the end of the day, Wilson just hasn't been handed his opportunity in the first-team and he needs to be playing week in, week out.

With 13 league outings last term, he's seemingly fallen even further down the pecking order at the Theatre of Dreams. For one reason or another, Van Gaal just doesn't fancy him to produce the goods. After the Wilson decision, United fans will now be hoping that their attacking stars step up sooner rather than later.
