Diego Costa's decision to chuck his bib in the direction of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho may have been petulant, childish and foolish - but it was also very amusing.

The striker couldn't resist displaying his frustration after Mourinho made his second and final substitution in the closing stages of Sunday afternoon's 0-0 draw against Tottenham and subsequently took off his bib and threw it towards the front row of the Chelsea bench.

Almost everyone on the Chelsea bench ignored it, but John Obi Mikel produced a priceless reaction which you might have missed at the weekend. The 28-year-old was seen giggling away and you can see the footage by scrolling down this page.

Mourinho played down the incident in his post-match press conference and was probably wise to do so.

"For me his behaviour is normal. A top player on the bench will not be happy," the revered Portuguese coach was quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "If he wants to hurt me it would not be with a bib. I have a good relationship with him."

Chelsea may need to sell Diego Costa

Eden Hazard was deployed in the centre-forward position and produced a reasonably decent performance up against Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld but struggled to make the ball stick in the same way Costa does.

Costa, however, has not performed to the standards expected of him this season.

The 27-year-old has scored a disappointing four goals and been involved in altercations with opposition players in almost every one of his 17 appearances.

Unless he learns to control his anger - and focuses more on scoring goals and less on winding up opponents - Chelsea may decide to ditch the controversial Spain international at the end of the season.
