20 long years at the top, numerous records broken and a place in the heart of almost every NBA fan - Kobe Bryant has announced his retirement. Don’t worry, you’ll still have until the end of the season to watch Bryant turn out for his Los Angeles Lakers, but after that there will be no more from arguably the best shooting guard the league has ever seen. Bryant announced his retirement today, saying his body knew it was time to say goodbye. Prepare for an emotional send-off. In the NFL, meanwhile, on the subject of good things coming to an end, the New England Patriots lost their unblemished record courtesy of the Denver Broncos. Not only were stand-in QB Brock Osweiler and co. too good for the Pats, but there’s added woe as Rob Gronkowski was stretchered off. We’ll add that suggestions of a serious injury are rife.
