A number of WWE superstars have impressed in 2015 by achieving some great things and some of them will be looking to continue that momentum heading into 2016.

With a handful of superstars out with injury, it opens the door for a lot of talented guys to step forward and make an impact so they can enjoy a successful year.

This year, we saw Seth Rollins enjoy a great 2015 with a WrestleMania cash-in and a lengthy title run to match it, and certain superstars will be looking to make a similar impact. Here are the stars I believe could enjoy a successful 2016 if opportunities are created.

Kevin Owens actually had a great 2015 since he made his main roster debut earlier in the year and targeted John Cena, even picking up a clean victory over the then-United States Champion.

He’s definitely lost a little bit of steam in the closing stages of 2015, but there’s no denying the fact that Owens has all the ability in the world to make an impact next year. He’ll definitely be one of the frontrunners for the Money in the Bank briefcase as well and a number of interesting feuds should help him become a top star in the company.

Finn Balor is another who has enjoyed another great year and has only lost two matches clean since his arrival on NXT, that’s some record to boast and he’s now the NXT Champion.

It’s not clear when Balor will lose the championship but regardless of whether he remains on NXT next year or comes to the main roster, you can be sure that the WWE will have a lot of faith in Balor succeeding.

He’s a unique star with a whole lot to offer and I highly doubt he’ll be failed call-up to the main roster.

It doesn’t really matter if you like or dislike Roman Reigns because the fact is the WWE are too heavily invested in him to back out from the plans they have in place.

In 2016, Roman Reigns will definitely be the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and you can be sure nobody will steal his limelight on the night he does become champion. The WWE have put too much faith in Reigns that he’s guaranteed to have a blockbuster year where he enjoys a successful and lengthy title reign.

Whether he stays as a face or not could definitely have an impact on him, though.

This is where it gets a little bit interesting because La Sombra – whose real name is Manuel Alfonso Andrade Oropeza – has only recently been signed by the WWE, regardless of this he’s touted for some big things in the WWE.

He’s said to be a highly professional star backstage which is something the WWE personnel like as they know they won’t have any major issues with him. They also have Kalisto to push, but it looks as if La Sombra is the star they want to go with and push to the moon.

He’s definitely a star you need to keep an eye on in 2016 as he could be in store for a huge debut year.

Another superstar who should enjoy a successful 2016 is Sami Zayn who is set for his return in December on the NXT UK tour.

It’s not clear where Sami will be upon his return as he’s expected to feud with Owens and move to the main roster. Regardless of this you can be sure that Sami’s immense popularity, personality and his incredible in-ring ability will help him go over, perhaps more over than any NXT star in recent years.

Obviously it all depends on he’s booked but if the WWE display enough faith in him to go out there and do his thing then Sami could have a year to remember.
