Anders Lindegaard has posted an amusing tweet to Wayne Rooney this morning after the Manchester United captain named the goalkeeper as his most annoying teammate in an interview.

Rooney was asked by Sport magazine - per Goal - which current or former teammate he wouldn’t want to be stuck in a lift with. The United skipper responded: “Anders Lindegaard. He’s just annoying.”

But the 31-year-old got his own back on Rooney this morning, posting an eye-catching photo of himself and his former captain during a Premier League match against Arsenal. Scroll down this page to see it.

“Thats why you don't wanna be stuck in an elevator with me lad? 😂@WayneRooney #happytoseeyoustillgotsh*tbanter,” Lindegaard tweeted.

Goal, however, have since claimed that the Denmark international could now face action from the Football Association for his “crude” reply.

Lindegaard struggling for minutes at West Brom

Lindegaard left United for West Brom towards the end of the summer transfer window after being convinced to join the Baggies by Tony Pulis.

The Dane knew his Old Trafford career was effectively over once Louis van Gaal signed Sergio Romero, as a replacement for the ostracised Victor Valdes, from Sampdoria a month earlier.

But whether West Brom was the right move for Lindegaard is debatable: he’s still waiting to make his Premier League debut for the club, with Pulis favouring Boaz Myhill in the absence of the injured Ben Foster.

The goalkeeper did, however, appear in the Baggies’ 3-0 Capital One Cup defeat to Norwich City in September.
