Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has dismissed speculation that he's looking to bring a new goalkeeper to the club ahead of the January transfer window.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, ahead of his side's Capital One Cup quarter-final clash against Southampton tomorrow evening, the revered coach has insisted that he's 'absolutely satisfied' with his current goalkeeping situation.

Simon Mignolet and Adam Bogdan are currently fighting it out for the No.1 spot on Merseyside, but the former has come under pressure recently.

In fact, Mignolet was heavily criticised after making a mistake in the Reds' Europa League victory last week, leading to reports that he could be replaced sooner rather than later.

However, it appears that Klopp is happy with his options between the sticks. The former Borussia Dortmund coach stated: “I am absolutely satisfied with the goalkeeping situation – sorry to kill your stories! We’re not looking for a goalkeeper.”

But Mignolet must perform

Let's be honest, not every Liverpool fan will be totally convinced by Klopp's words. The Kop have watched the Belgium shot-stopper fail to perform on a consistent basis for some time now, so he must prove his credentials in the near future.

Mignolet is extremely talented but has to work on his all-round game. He must cut out the errors and start producing the goods week in, week out. He has the backing of his manager for now, but he can't rest on his laurels in pursuit of success on Merseyside.

Bogdan opportunity

Bogdan, on the other hand, must step up when handed an opportunity in the first-team. The former Bolton player has enjoyed success in the cup this season, so will be desperate to secure a place in the starting XI tomorrow night.

However, Klopp has admitted that he still hasn't made a decision over which goalkeeper will be selected for the quarter-final contest.
