Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno has played down rumours that he could sign for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, the full-back, who has enjoyed a steady run in the side under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, has insisted that he's never had 'anything serious' with the La Liga giants.

The player's agent, Javier Moya, recently hinted that the full-back would be interested in a move to the club, but it's uncertain as to whether Rafa Benitez and Co. are ready to swoop for the player.

One thing is for sure, Moreno is far from certain as to whether Real Madrid hold a legitimate interest in him.

He reportedly told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope: “I have never had anything serious with them - not me, not my brothers or representatives.

"I have not found out about that [Real Madrid interest], I do not know whether that is true.

Moreno importance

Would Liverpool fans really be that disappointed if Moreno departed the club? The former Sevilla man has hardly established himself as a model of consistency in recent years.

At 23, however, he still has time on his side and, with Klopp at the helm, he's enjoyed a fruitful spell in the team. In fact, after missing the club's opening-day Premier League victory against Stoke City, Moreno has featured in all of Liverpool's league fixtures since.

Question marks remain over the player's defensive attributes, so it would certainly come as a surprise if he secured himself a move to the Bernabeu.
