Martin Odegaard's Real Madrid career has been dealt another blow after the Norwegian 'wonderkid' was left out of Rafa Benitez's squad for the Copa del Rey tie with Cadiz.

Los Blancos face the Segunda B side on Wednesday evening and Benitez has named five Castilla players in his squad, but Odegaard is not one of them.

The 16-year-old has found his chances limited since the former Liverpool boss took over from Carlo Ancelotti and has made just one appearance for the first-team since moving from Strømsgodset in 2014 - coming on a substitute on the final day of last season.

However, he has been influential for Zinedine Zidane's side this season, playing 12 games as Real Madrid Castilla sit second in Segunda B Group two.

Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Marcelo and Dani Carvajal will all miss the game through injury while Keylor Navas, Danilo, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale have all been rested.

The five youngster that will travel to the Ramon de Carranza are Borja Mayoral, Carlos Abad, Philipp Lienhart, Alaro Tejero and Marcoa Llorente.

Given Cadiz are at the same level as Castilla, it would have been the perfect opportunity to give Odegaard a chance.

The Norwegian international is seen as the future of Real Madrid after they beat a number of top European clubs to his signature.

But it seems Benitez has not been impressed with what he has seen from the teenager, after all he does train with the first-team once a week.
