Sports fans, happy Friday.

Welcome to the last working day round-up of the week. Refrain, if possible, from celebrating the beginning of the weekend just yet, for we have news for you.

Watch the video above for the latest headlines delivered straight from GiveMeSport HQ, or read on below for a little more fluff. Enjoy.

Irving approaching return

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been managing well in the absence of Kyrie Irving, but there’s no doubting they’ll be celebrating his return.

Well, they’re one step closer to that celebration, with the point-guard confirming he’s made the ‘biggest step’ in his comeback from a broken left kneecap.

Irving’s been out since Game 2 of the NBA Finals last season but has been fully cleared for practice. It’s only a matter of time before he’s lining up alongside LeBron James once more.

East and West Players of the Month

Meanwhile, Steph Curry and Paul George have been named the Western Conference and Eastern Conference Players of the Month respectively.

Curry has been in rip-roaring form for the Golden State Warriors as they’ve remained unbeaten thus far in the NBA, whilst George’s Indiana Pacers have won 11 of 13 games after kicking off the season with an 0-3 run.

Thursday Night Football provides late drama

In the NFL, there was late drama on Thursday Night Football as the Green Bay Packers stunned the Detroit Lions with a last-minute Hail Mary.

Aaron Rodgers threw an incredible 61-yard play to Richard Rodgers, with the scores finishing 27-23. The last effort completed a 20-point comeback for the Packers.

Burgess tries his hand with the Giants

In other news, English rugby league star Tom Burgess has reportedly worked out for the New York Giants at Tight End.

A tweet by Media Insider Adam Schefter appeared to confirm that the 23-year-old is looking to get a shot in the NFL.

Whether or not the Giants are prepared to give him one is another matter entirely.
