The transfer window is fast approaching and Arsenal fans are hoping Arsene Wenger will make the necessary signings to keep their title hopes alive.

The Gunners' squad has been ravaged by injuries, with seven players currently in the treatment room.

A November that saw the Emirates outfit pick up two points in three games has only increased fans' desire to see Wenger make movements in January.

An Arsenal side without Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin -among others - secured a 3-1 win over Sunderland on Saturday, but it was hardly a vintage display heading into their crunch Champions League tie with Olympiacos.

Due to the unpredictable nature of the Premier League this season, Arsenal still find themselves two points off leaders Leicester, but their recent performances and injuries are bringing a sense of deja vu to the Emirates.

The injury to Coquelin is seen as the biggest loss for the north London club and, with the Frenchman out until the end of January - at the earliest - a new defensive midfielder is high on many supporter's wishlist.

“He is a very good ambassador of Kenyan football and has done well in Southampton, but I hope he signs for Arsenal in the future.

And one player who has been touted as a possible addition is Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama.

The Kenyan, who tried to force a move away from St. Mary's in the summer, has been an overall success on the south coast since his move from Celtic in 2013. However, he has struggled to reach the heights he set last season in this campaign.

But that has not altered Robert Pires' judgement of the 24-year-old. The former Arsenal winger is a huge fan and hopes Wanyama joins the Gunners one day.

As per the Kenyan Daily National, he said: "He [Wanyama] has the speed, skill and physique.

“He is a very good ambassador of Kenyan football and has done well in Southampton, but I hope he signs for Arsenal in the future.

“However, I think he needs to score more goals because then he will be world-class material.”

Whether Arsenal will make a move for Wanyama is yet to be seen, but Gunners fans will certainly be waiting with bated breath to see what Wenger does once the window opens.
