Antonio Conte becomes frontrunner for Chelsea job after Jose Mourinho

The vultures are circling around Stamford Bridge waiting for Jose Mourinho’s head to be struck from his shoulders and, naturally, the focus is quickly shifting to who will replace him. Natural frontrunners are the likes of Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone, but another has emerged in the form of ex-Juventus boss Antonio Conte. An exclusive in The Independent links the Italy boss with the west London hot-seat, with it said he’s interested in the role. The report says he has ‘admirers’ in the Chelsea hierarchy, though his position with Italy makes the whole thing a bit confusing. Moving on, one man who doesn’t want Mourinho gone is Sir Alex Ferguson. The United legend praised the Special One and told the Blues not to let him go. In his words ‘why sack one of the best of all time?’
