Feuds which could turn Kevin Owens into a top WWE star

One of the most overlooked superstars in the WWE today is none other than the current Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens, who has all the tools to succeed in the company.

He's had a long journey to get to the WWE, and it’s not surprising to see why the internet went into meltdown when Triple H had announced that Kevin Steen had signed with the company.

They had enough faith in him to make sure he enjoyed a successful stint on NXT when he attacked Sami Zayn on his first night there, before going on to become a dominant NXT Champion.

Since then, he’s been in a feud with the biggest star in the company in John Cena, and he’s now the current Intercontinental Champion. We all know that he’s a fantastic heel who can achieve great things in the WWE, but there is something which is stopping him from reaching the next level.

Just why the WWE won’t push him to the top is unknown – although his look could be a reason – but there are feuds he can be put in where he can reach the top of the WWE and he definitely has the potential to do so.

Let’s get this one out of the way as a Brock Lesnar vs. Owens match seems to be the big rumours spreading like wildfire online. It’s definitely a match the fans could get behind but it’s obviously up to the WWE to book Owens into a position where he’s a huge threat.

Lesnar is a huge name in the WWE – perhaps the biggest as he’s such a huge draw – and simply mixing it up with The Beast would be a huge step up in itself, one which the Canadian can definitely succeed in considering he oozes confidence.

Owens is great on the microphone and Lesnar has Paul Heyman in his corner which is vital. A potential feud between the two would be huge for Owens as he will automatically become the biggest heel in the company and it’ll be fantastic for his future.

Another huge name in the industry is The Undertaker, and he is someone who isn't afraid to let someone with potential go over. Owens is definitely one of the few who will truly benefit from defeating The Phenom, and again, it’s a huge honour for anyone to step into a ring with The Deadman.

Owens has been vocal about wanting to mix it up with the likes of Lesnar and Taker and he could actually be a great opponent for The Undertaker as he is a prize fighter. He’d love to finish The Phenom once and for all.

Again, it all comes down to how the WWE book Owens because if the feud was made next week, it would definitely fail. He needs to steamroll through his opponents so he can position himself alongside some of the huge names.

A little more fantasy booking here as we don’t know whether Daniel Bryan will be able to compete in a ring again. Saying that, WWE are famous for the swerves they throw our way, so Bryan could even be in the Royal Rumble as early as January.

Assuming the former WWE Champion will be a regular in-ring competitor in the WWE again, it would be a massive feud for both men. We know just how much support Bryan has and there’s no doubt that fans want to see him at the top again while Owens is the type of person who would love to derail Bryan’s effort to get to the top.

They’re both solid in the ring and their styles would be perfect for each other. It’s difficult to pick out better heels for Bryan, and the feud would help Owens massively.

The WWE are planning to have Roman Reigns come agonisingly close to capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship before finally turning it around and walking out with the championship title.

Owens is a perfect star who can get in there with Reigns and stop him from becoming the champion again, this will allow both of them to enter a feud which can benefit both men as some fans still believe The Big Dog isn’t ready for the title.

A feud with Owens will be good for Reigns as his journey to the top will be made more difficult and it will be good to see how he fares against someone who fans do think has the talent to succeed.

The likelihood is Seth Rollins will return to the company as a face, which means feuds with the likes of Sheamus and Triple H will probably be on the cards, although a feud with Owens should also be considered.

The two definitely have unique chemistry as we’ve seen it already on WWE television, and it would be a pleasant surprise to see a face Rollins going up against a heel Owens. Their in-ring styles are perfect for each other as we’ve seen on the independent scene, so any match between the pair is something that will definitely steal the show.

Rollins has had a great year and if Owens can feud with – and even defeat – the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, then it would do wonders for his future in the WWE.
