Cristiano Ronaldo set tongues wagging after he was spotted whispering in the ear of Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc following the French champions’ 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League group stages at the Bernabeu last month.
It was subsequently reported - by Le Parisien, per the Mirror - that Ronaldo had told Blanc: “Your team plays really well. I would love to work with you”.
However, following Tuesday night’s 8-0 win over Malmo, Ronaldo set the record straight - telling reporters that he merely thanked Blanc for speaking well of him in the media. (Scroll down this page to watch Ronaldo’s post-match interview).

“I have talked to many people. When people treat me well, I treat [them] well. A muddle that does not exist was put together,” Ronaldo told Antena3, according to the Daily Mail. “What happened with Blanc was that he had spoken very well about me before and I only thanked him for this declarations and I told him that I had liked them a lot.
“And with the Paris president, I have known him for many years. He seems very nice and he has always treated me well. That's what happened.”
PSG move could still happen next summer
Ronaldo’s comments will do little to stop further rumours linking him with a move to PSG next summer.
It looks increasingly likely that Real Madrid will cash in on the 30-year-old next summer, despite the fact he has scored 21 goals in 20 appearances for Los Blancos this season, and the Parc des Princes appears to be his most likely next destination.
Ronaldo: I am staying
Ronaldo, however, insists he will see out his contract with the Spanish giants.
"It is speculation. Every year, the same thing," the three-time Ballon d’Or winner was quoted as telling Antena3 by Sky Sports. "I am calm, I feel good, and I am happy here. I have two years of contract and I am going to stay here."
