Liverpool fans unimpressed with Roberto Firmino during Sion snoozefest

It wasn't exactly spectacular, but Liverpool got the point they needed to top their Europa League group against FC Sion this evening. OK, it was awful.

There wasn't a whole lot for the travelling Liverpool fans to cheer about as they watch their team go through the motions on a drab evening at the Stade de Tourbillon.

If you're looking for minor victories, then at least Jurgen Klopp's side were able to keep a clean sheet - their first against Swiss opposition since 1997, apparently. Quite the achievement.

Klopp would have been looking for a positive response to his side's 2-0 Premier League defeat against Newcastle over the weekend - just his second since taking over from Brendan Rodgers earlier this season.

However that wasn't to be and although Liverpool go through, along with Sion, to the knockout stages of the Europa League (showdown with Manchester United, anyone?) there's still plenty for the German boss to work on just weeks after some had claimed his side were potential title challengers.

In terms of summing up the action on offer from Liverpool tonight, these three tweets some to do a pretty perfect job:

Still, there was one thing from tonight that was able to prompt a response from the Liverpool faithful. The performance of Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian has struggled to truly settle on Merseyside since he joined from Hoffenheim in deal worth a reported £29 million, and has managed just one goal in 12 league games so far. Tonight marked the 24-year-old's fourth appearance for Liverpool in Europe this season, and after a pretty poor effort in which he was subbed off late on, there were more than a few of the club's fans (and some of those paid to watch Liverpool play) who had seen enough.

Roll the tape:

Ouch. Not pretty at all. Firmino was far from the only player who failed to impress however - who do you think was the worst Liverpool player tonight?
