Lyon defender Rafael da Silva has admitted that he didn't enjoy playing for Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the right-back, who was speaking to BT Sport ahead of his side's Ligue 1 clash against PSG this weekend, has revealed that he could feel that he wasn't going to be in the Dutchman's plans at Old Trafford.
Rafael failed to secure a regular role in Manchester last term, only making 10 Premier League appearances. It appears, then, that the writing was on the wall for the dynamic defender, who has admitted that teams in England were interested in his services.

The Lyon man stated: "When Van Gaal arrived I could see I wasn’t in the plan. When you’re a player you can feel it, you can see that.
"The 10 games I played I thought I played very well apart from Leicester [a 5-3 away defeat]. It’s hard to know.
"I had some choices to go in England, but in the end I wanted to try something different. It’s good to challenge yourself.
"To be honest I didn’t really enjoy to play when Van Gaal was there. Everyone is different. Results matter so if they can win the league it will be a different story.
"I like to enjoy myself, to try things and do stuff. Last year I wasn’t doing that.
"I watch them play and I’ve heard some things as well... But it’s hard. Football is for the fans. They want to see good football."
Ultimately, it's not surprising that Rafael didn't enjoy playing under the Van Gaal regime. With the former Barcelona man in charge, the Red Devils fail to take risks and play with a lack of speed and excitement.
Things have absolutely changed in Manchester since the Sir Alex Ferguson era, but United fans still expect to be entertained. That's not happening right now and something clearly needs to change.
After disappointing in Europe earlier this week, the Old Trafford outfit will be desperate to secure all three points against Bournemouth later today.
