Manchester United should ease past FC Midtjylland in Europa League

Manchester United are set to face Danish outfit FC Midtjylland in the Europa League Round of 32.

After being dumped out of the Champions League at the hands of Wolfsburg last week, today's draw would have really hit home for the Red Devils faithful.

While Arsenal and Chelsea drew Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in Europe's elite competition, Louis van Gaal's side were handed an unknown quantity in FC Midtjylland.

But who are they? Well, they are currently sitting in third place in the Danish Superliga and just about secured second place in their Europa League group.

In fact, Midtjylland's seven points in Group D was enough to see Club Brugge KV and Legia Warszawa eliminated from the competition.

Two big defeats

But it's safe to say that FC Midtjylland shouldn't be much of a match for Manchester United. Their two games against Serie A outfit Napoli this season prove they are some way off the big dogs in the competition.

On October 22, they came up against the Italian outfit and were comfortably beaten 4-1 on home soil. The second game against Napoli was just as bad as they were destroyed 5-0. That makes an overall score of 9-1 over the two games. Manchester United certainly have nothing to fear.

FC Midtjylland have already beaten an English team in Europe this season, however. They were the side that eliminated Southampton from the competition at the first playoff round stage.

Twitter reaction

In truth, though, it should prove a walk in the park for Louis van Gaal's side, but fans of the Red Devils are hardly jumping for joy right now. As you can see by the reaction on Twitter, United fans aren't in great spirits.
